Arise Church Privacy Policy

This policy sets out how we will handle any personal information that we collect from you or that you provide to us. We will collect and handle your personal information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018. Arise Church may store your information on computers (on hard drives, or using cloud-based storage), in paper form, or both; paper-based personal data will be stored in locked filing units on Arise Church premises and computer-based personal data will be stored on password protected computers.


General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (“GDPR”)

Arise Church holds and uses personal data in accordance with the eight requirements of the GDPR that personal data shall:

  • Be processed fairly and lawfully.

  • Be obtained for a specified and lawful purpose and shall not be processed in any manner incompatible with that purpose.

  • Be adequate, relevant and not excessive for those purposes.

  • Be accurate and where necessary, kept up to date.

  • Not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose.

  • Be processed in accordance with the data subject’s rights.

  • Be kept secure from unauthorised or unlawful processing and protected against accidental loss, destruction or damage by using the appropriate technical and organisational measures.

  • Not be transferred to a country or territory outside the European Economic Area, unless that country or territory ensures an adequate level of protection for the rights and freedoms of data subjects in relation to the processing of personal data.


How we may use the data that we have collected:

  • To inform you of upcoming events hosted by, or linked to, Arise Church

  • To better attend to your pastoral needs

  • To help us to place you in a relevant connect group

  • To help you to start serving on a team

  • To place you in a rota for relevant teams

  • To let you know when you are serving on a team, if you have opted in for rota reminders

  • For statistical analysis to monitor growth and trends, in order for us to better serve the needs of the church


The kind of data we collect:

  • Name

  • Date of birth - to ensure we send you relevant communication

  • Sex - to ensure we send you relevant communication

  • Address 

  • Contact number

  • Email address

  • Marital Status - to ensure we send you relevant communication

  • Your attendance at events you sign up for - to ensure we send you relevant communication

  • Which connect group you are in - to make sure that those who want to be are connected

  • Which teams you serve on - to enable rota creation and reminders

  • Medical information when necessary, for example a young person who signs up for a trip

  • Information provided to us in order to appropriately safeguard children and young people in our congregation, for example your DBS status

  • Any information that you choose to share with us, for example a pastoral issue


Who we may share information with:

  • Trusted volunteers and staff: in order for you to receive relevant communication and pastoral support

  • ChurchSuite: this online Church Management System, is used to store your details securely. For more information on ChurchSuite’s Privacy Policy, please see here:

  • Third-Party Service providers linked with ChurchSuite: for example, a payment processing program if you choose to pay for an event online. Your data entitlements:

Please email if you wish to access or request the following:

  • To see your stored information

  • To delete/remove your stored information (please note: we may have to legally retain some information, for example data needed for audit or safeguarding purposes)

  • To correct or amend your stored information

  • To opt-in, or to remove you previous opt-in permission, for Arise Church email or SMS messages regarding news, upcoming events, and rota reminders.


Arise Church will never sell or trade any of your personal information.
